Traveling to Loreto by air

Traveling to Loreto by Car, RV or Bus
Loreto is located 715 miles south of the border at San Diego and 830 miles from Los Angeles via Mexico Highway 1 - a well-paved and maintained two-lane highway with little or no shoulder in many places. Major cities and points of interest along the way include: Tijuana, Rosarito, Ensenada, San Quentin, Guerrero Negro, San Ignacio, Santa Rosalia, Mulege and Loreto. Drive time at normal highway speeds is approximately 16 hours from Los Angeles. Plan two days commute and avoid driving at night whenever possible.

Tourist Visa
U.S. and Canadian citizens visiting Baja for more than 72 hours are required to have in their possession a tourist visa, which can be acquired for a fee of approximately $24 USD. If you plan to stay in Baja California less than 72 hours, you do not need a tourist card. You can obtain forms for the tourist card from Mexican immigration officials at the US border or at the Baja Sur border in Guerrero Negro. The $24 fee can be paid at any time prior to leaving Mexico at any Mexican bank. Be sure to get your card stamped from the bank to prove validation.

Auto Insurance
